    Jennifer Grumann, M.S., CCC-SLP

    Denver Therapist

Jennifer entered her freshman year of college unsure of what career path she wanted to pursue. This uncertainty coincided with a very close family member losing his ability to communicate due to a brain tumor which caused severe expressive aphasia. This diagnosis and the need to learn creative ways to communicate with her favorite uncle prompted her to take an introduction to communication disorders course which she immediately found fascinating. This led her down a meaningful career path and she has thoroughly enjoyed the variety of experiences she has encountered along the way.

Jennifer is a licensed and certified Speech/Language Pathologist in Colorado. She graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a Bachelor of Arts in Speech/Language Pathology and Audiology and earned a Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders/Speech-Language Pathology from Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. She is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

After completing her masters program, Jennifer moved back to Denver and started her career at Craig Hospital, one of the nation’s top rehabilitation hospitals for brain and spinal cord injuries. She also held a per diem position at St. Joseph’s Hospital in an acute care setting for diagnosis and treatment of adults with various neurological impairments and dysphagia. While at Craig Hospital, Jennifer’s experience assisting adolescents with their return to school after traumatic brain injury renewed her interest in working as a school-based therapist and she accepted a position with the Douglas County School District. Jennifer diagnosed and treated children in grades K-6 and co-taught a kindergarten class. She thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with parents, teachers and a multidisciplinary team to achieve the best possible outcomes for her students.

Jennifer’s range of clinical experience includes the evaluation and treatment of adolescents and adults with stroke, traumatic brain injury and/or spinal cord injuries, dysphagia, executive functioning disorders and pragmatic language. Her clinical experience with children includes expressive/receptive language disorders, articulation and phonological disorders, autism spectrum disorders, executive functioning disorders and behavior disorders as well as students identified as twice exceptional.

Jennifer lives in Denver with her husband, two daughters and their dog, Pete Marshmallow. She loves traveling, live theater, reading, doing anything outside with her family and TENNIS!
