    Emily Dockall, M.S., CF-SLP

    Houston Therapist

Emily knew she wanted to work in healthcare after her dad became ill during her senior year of high school. She started college as a nursing major, but after deciding it wasn’t the right fit, a family friend suggested speech therapy instead. Emily knew it was the right career choice because she actually enjoyed studying brain science, child development, building blocks for speech and language acquisition, and therapeutic strategies that were involved in the coursework.

Emily graduated with her B.S. from Lamar University in Beaumont, TX (near her hometown) and opted to work as an SLP-A to get clinical experience before returning to graduate school. After working as an SLP-A, she married her husband, Matt, and they started a family in Houston while Emily worked in youth ministry. In 2020, Emily returned to graduate school for Speech and Language Pathology and graduated from New York University in May 2023. She is a licensed CF-SLP, completing her clinical fellowship this year.

Emily has worked in various settings during her time as an SLP-A and graduate student clinician; including home health pediatrics, private practice with children and adults, TIRR outpatient hospital with children and adults, and an elementary school in Cy-Fair ISD. Her areas of clinical experience include the evaluation and treatment of receptive and expressive language disorders, articulation and phonological disorders including apraxia, autism spectrum disorder, social language disorders, executive function disorders, fluency disorders, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). She enjoys working with children of all ages, and loves partnering with families, caregivers, and teachers to provide the utmost success in overall communication for the child.

Emily lives with her two children (ages 4 and 2), her husband, and their dog Harvey. She enjoys spending time with friends and family, reading, being outdoors, and travelling. She is currently learning Spanish to better serve the many bilingual-Spanish families in Houston.
