Amy Pell, M.S., CCC-SLP
Denver Therapist
Having a sibling with language and learning needs, Amy has always known that she wanted to work in education, however, it took her a little while to find her way to the field of speech and language. Amy began her professional career as a general education teacher and taught second grade for almost five years. Amy has always loved teaching literacy and after working closely with the Speech Language Pathologist at her school, Amy realized that she had more than a love of literacy, she had a passion for language and communication.
Amy is a proud Denver native, but decided to explore a new area of the country and she earned a Bachelors of Arts in Education from Boston University. Following graduation, Amy spent nearly five years in the classroom as a Second Grade teacher. She left the classroom to work towards her Masters of Science in Communication Science Disorders, which she earned from Emerson University in Boston, MA. She is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
Amy moved back to the Denver area immediately after graduate school in 2007 and began working as a school based Speech Language Pathologist in the Cherry Creek School District. She worked in inclusive, play based preschool classrooms with students with a variety of speech, language, and total communication needs. Amy also worked for the district’s Child Find team, conducting evaluations, determining eligibility of services, and writing Individual Family Service Plans and Individual Education Plans to outline services and goals for children birth-five years old. In addition to working in the schools, Amy worked in Early Intervention, seeing children birth-three years old in their homes helping them grow as communicators and working with families to better understand their child’s needs and ways to support them. She also worked for a Denver based private practice that specializes in Alternative and Assistive Technology, helping children with complex communication needs find their voice and helping children and their families utilize a variety of modes of communication. Amy continues to work for Cherry Creek School District and provides speech and language assessments and therapy for preschool and elementary age students, in addition to working for The Speech Garden, Denver.
Amy lives with her husband and two children. She enjoys spending time with friends and family, reading, cooking, skiing, and playing tennis.
